Sundal is a South Indian snacks prepared from any Lentils. Apart from preparing sundals for Vinayagar Chaturthi and Navarathri festival,my mom prepares it as a evening snacks. Sundals are rich in proteins and one of the healthy snacks for kids. Onions are not used in sundal, when preparing for these festivals. Ingredients:
Kala Channa dal / Kondakadalai

Onions chopped

1/2 cup

Oil

2 tbsp

Mustard

1/4 tsp

Green Chilly

Red chillies

Channa dal
|
1 tsp
|
Urad dal
|
1 tsp

Ginger finely chopped
|
1 tsp
|
Curry leaves
|
4
|
Shredded coconut
|
2 tbsp
|
Salt

Coriander Leaves
|
For Garnishing
|
Instructions:
- Soak chana over night and pressure cook for 4-5 whistles till it turns soft. strain extra water. (Use the water while preparing Kuzhambu)
- Heat oil in the pan and add mustard, red chilly and curry leaves.When mustard splutter, add channa dal,urad dal and Ginger. Fry till chana dal turns golden colour. Add chopped onions, green chilly cut lengthwise and fry it till they turn translucent.
- Add cooked channa and salt. Fry for a min. Switch off the stove. Add shredded coconut and coriander leaves.
Avoid onions and follow remaining steps, when cooking for Vinayagar chaturthi and Navarathri Festivals.
Adjust chillies to your taste.
