Instant Jowar Dosa - Chola Dosa

Jowar is gluten free and makes an excellent healthy diet. Sorghum /Jowar is rich in iron and phosphorous. It is also rich source of Vitamins. It is suggested for people suffering from stomach ulcer. Jowar is called as Cholam in tamil and Jonna in Telugu. Instead of sticking to rice and wheat all the time, my mom prepares recipes with millets. Jowar Dosa is a Instant quick dosa prepared with store bought Jowar flour. Please check below for step by step instructions and pictures for preparing South Indian Cholam Dosa

Ingredients:
Jowar Flour / Jonna Pindi / Chola Maavu 
11/2 Cups
Rice Flour
1/2 Cup
Onions Chopped 
1/2 Cup
Cumin seeds
1 tsp
Curry leaves chopped 
2
Green chillies chopped 
2
Coriander leaves chopped 
2 stalks
Salt




Instructions:
  • Mix salt, jowar flour, rice flour and water with no lumps. Add onions, green chillies, curry leaves and coriander leaves.  The batter should be little watery when compared to normal dosa batter.


  • Heat dosa tava in medium flame . Sprinkle water and check whether the dosa tava is hot. Take half cup of batter and spread evenly starting from centre. Pour oil on dosa circumference.Close it with lid.

  • When the colour of dosa changes in some areas, turn on other side and cook for a min.
Tips:
  • Cook dosa in medium flame. 
  • Adjust green chillies to your taste.

  6. I'm trying to make the dosa right now....the dosa is stuck to my pan and won't come off easily like a regular dosa. Do you know why?

    1. As mentioned above, the batter should be little watery... If needed add more rice flour..
