Whenever I feel very lazy to cook and that too when there is no Idli dosa batter in my home, the very first dish that comes to my mind is this onion roti. Not sure how to name this recipe. My mom used to call this as Roti. Just mix all the ingredients and make small balls. Heat dosa pan and flatten the balls using spatula. No need of any rolling pin and moreover no side dish is needed. Please check below for step by step instructions and pictures for preparing onion roti.
Atta \ Whole wheat flour

1 Cup

Oil
|
4 tsp

Finely chopped onions

1/4 Cup

Finely chopped green chillies
|

Finely chopped curry leaves
|

Finely chopped coriander leaves
|
2 stalks
|
Finely chopped ginger
|
1 tsp
|
Turmeric
|
1/4 tsp
|
chilli powder
|
1 tsp
|
Salt
|
Instructions:
- Make a soft dough by adding atta, salt ,turmeric and chilli powder along with water. Add onions, green chillies,curry leaves, coriander leaves, ginger . Take a fraction of dough and make balls of medium size lemon. For me, it yielded 4 balls.
- Heat dosa pan.Take a dough ball, place it in tawa and using hand or wooden spatula pat gently and flatten to 5-7 inch diameter. Drizzle 1/2 tsp of oil if needed. Cook till golden spots appear on some places. Turn and drizzle 1/2 tsp of oil. cook until golden spots appear on the other side also. Repeat the process for remaining flatten dough balls.
Adjust chilli powder to your taste.
