Pudina Thogayal - Mint Chutney

Pudina Thogayal

Pudina thogayal or Pudina thuvaiyal is prepared from fresh mint leaves. This chutney is usually taken as a side dish to Rice. It also goes well with Idli and Dosa. Preparation Time:     10 mins

Ready in :                   13 mins
Yields :                        4 servings 

1 tsp
Red Chilly
Urad Dal
1 tsp
1/2 tsp
1 tbsp
Shredded Coconut 
2 tbsp
Mint Leaves tightly packed 
1.5 Cup

  • Wash Mint leaves and drain excess water in colander.

  • Add Oil in a pan. Add red chillies and urad dal. Fry till urad dal turns golden colour.

  • Add Mint leaves in medium flame. Allow it to cook for 30 secs to max of 1 min till the mint leaves shrink. Switch of the stove and allow it to cool.

  • Add coconut, salt, jaggery and tamarind. Grind it to fine paste adding little water.

Adjust chillies to your taste.
Adding coconut is optional.
