Urad dal | Ulutham paruppu

Onions chopped

1/4 cup

Ginger finely chopped

1 tsp

Tomato chopped

1/4 Cup

Turmeric Powder
|
1/4 tsp
|
Coriander Powder
|
1/2 tsp
|
Chilli Powder

1 tsp

Salt

- Wash and remove the outer skin, seeds of pumpkin.Cut it into small pieces.
- Heat Oil in a pressure cooker. Add mustard and allow it to splutter. Add cumin seeds, Curry leaves, red chilly, chana dal and Urad dal. Fry till chana dal turns golden color. Add onions and finely chopped ginger. Fry till onions turn translucent.
- Add tomatoes and fry till they turn mushy. Add finely chopped yellow pumpkin pieces and fry for a min.
- Add mung dal, salt, turmeric powder, coriander powder, chilli powder and enough water.
- Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles. Garnish with coriander leaves.
Tips:
Adjust red chillies and chilli powder to your taste.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful combo. While I don't cook pumpkins very often, basically my other half fears the effects on his diabetes, I love the taste, what more with dhal, Its a delicious dish which I have to make when he is away.
