Ingredients:

Toor Dal | Thuvaram paruppu | 1/4 Cup |
Cumin seeds | Seeragam | 1 tsp |
Fennel seeds | Sombu | 1 tsp |
Turmeric powder | 1/4 tsp |
Curry Leaves | 4 to 6 |
Red chillies | 2 |
Table 2:
Cluster Beans | Kothavarangai finely chopped | 1.5 Cup |
Oil | 2 tsp |
Mustard | 1/4 tsp |
Urad dal | Ulutham paruppu | 1 tsp |
Curry Leaves | 4 to 6 |
Asafoetida powder | Hing | Pinch |
Salt | As needed |
Instructions:
- Wash and soak toor dal for one hour. Strain the extra water. Grind toor dal along with cumin seeds, fennel seeds, turmeric powder, curry leaves and red chillies into coarse powder without adding water.
- Mix the ground coarse powder along with finely chopped cluster beans. Steam cook for 10 to 15 mins in Idli vessel.
- Heat Oil in a pan. Add mustard and allow it to splutter.Add urad dal, curry leaves. Fry till urad dal turns golden color. Add asafoetida powder. Add the steam cooked dal and cluster beans, salt. Fry for 2 to 3 mins. Serve it with rice.

Cluster beans should be very finely chopped.
Don't add water while grinding toor dal.
