Ingredients:
Oil | 2 tsp |
Mustard | 1/4 tsp |
Fennel seeds | 1 tsp |
Cinnamon stick | small |
Cloves | 2 |
Curry leaves | 3 to 5 |
Green chilly | 1 |
Finely chopped ginger and garlic | 1 tp |
Onions chopped | 1/2 Cup |
Raw Banana chopped | Vazhakkai | 1 Cup |
Salt | As needed |
Turmeric powder | 1/4 tsp |
Coriander powdder | 1 tsp |
Chilli powder | 1 tsp |
Coriander leaves | For Garnishing |
Instructions:
- Heat Oil in a pan. Add mustard and allow it to splutter. Add fennel seeds, cloves, cinnamon stick, curry leaves, green chillies and finely chopped ginger garlic. Fry till raw smell goes off.Add onions and fry till they turn translucent.
- Add raw banana pieces, salt, turmeric powder, coriander powder and chilli powder. Sprinkle some water and close with lid. Check whether raw banana is cooked, else sprinkle some more water.
- Lastly garnish with coriander leaves.

Adjust green chilly and chilli powder to your taste.
Oh yes, we get plantain over here too. Usually fried as chips. Can't remember when was the last I made poriyal. Thanks for the awesome recipe, something I would love to try and its a reminder on enjoying it soon.
