Basic Pancakes from scratch

Basic Pancakes
Pancakes can be compared with our South Indian dosa. It looks similar to dosa but the main ingredient is All purpose flour instead of rice and urad dal. I always prepare pancakes for Sunday breakfast. This delicious fluffy pancakes can be prepared within 30 minutes. Serve the pancakes with Honey or maple syrup or Jam or Chocolate Syrup or salsa. Yields : 3 Servings
Basic Pancakes from scratch

Table 1:
All Purpose flour | Maida 1 Cup
Sugar2 tbsp
Baking powder2 tsp
Salt1/2 tsp

Table 2:
Milk 1 Cup
Unsalted butter2 tbsp
Cooking Oil1 tbsp

Table 3:
Oil for cooking 2 tbsp


  • In a small bowl whisk all the ingredients(All purpose flour, Sugar, Baking powder and Salt) from table 1. In another bowl whisk the ingredients(Milk, Unsalted butter, Egg, Cooking oil) from table 2.

  • Add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and whisk it. Small lumps are fine.

  • Heat dosa tawa or griddle. Apply some oil (from table 3) and spoon 1/4 Cup batter onto griddle . Use the back of the spoon to spread batter into a round shape. Cook until some bubbles appear on the surface of pancakes. Flip carefully and cook for 1 or 2 mins. Continue with remaining batter.
