Yields: 2 Servings.
Ingredients:
Ghee | 1 tbsp |
Cashews | 6-10 |
Raisins | 6-10 |
Aval | Attukulu | 1/4 Cup |
Milk | 2.5 Cups |
Sugar or Powdered Jaggery | 1/2 Cup |
Cardamom powder | Pinch |
Instructions:
- Heat Ghee in a pan. Add cashews and fry. when cashews starts to turn golden colour, add raisins. Fry for 20 -30 secs till raisins become fluffy. Remove cashews and raisins from pan. In the same pan, add aval | attukulu and fry for 2-3 mins.
- Add milk and allow it to boil. When the milk reduces to half, add sugar and cardamom powder. Cook for 2-3 mins. Remove from stove.
- Garnish with cashews and raisins.

Tips:
Alternatively poha can be dry roasted and grinded.
Roasted almonds, pista can also be added for garnishing.
Adjust sugar to your taste.
Payasam thickens after some time, add 1/4 cup hot milk before servings.

ReplyDeleteJust made payasam last weekend, the normal and basic with semolina and split beans. I can find aval easily over here but sure, when its available, will try this delicious aval flavored payasam.
