Ingredients:
Table 1 : To Grind
| Horse gram | Kollu paruppu | 2 tbsp |
| Shallots or onions chopped | 1/2 Cup |
| Tomatoes chopped | 1/2 Cup |
| Medium sized garlic cloves | 8 |
| Curry Leaves | 4 to 5 |
| Coriander seeds | Dhaniya | 2 tsp |
| Red Chilli | 1 |
| Black Pepper | Milagu | 1 tsp |
| Cumin seeds | Seeragam | 1 tsp |
| Tamarind (Optional) | small piece |
| Salt | As needed |
| Asafoetida | Perungayam | pinch |
| Turmeric powder | 1/4 tsp |
Table 2:
| Oil / Ghee | 2 tsp |
| Mustard | Kadugu | 1/4 tsp |
| Coriander leaves chopped | 2 stalks |
Instructions:
- Wash and soak horse gram | Kollu paruppu in water for 20-30 mins. Grind all the ingredients from table 1 into a fine paste in blender by adding enough water.
- Heat Oil/Ghee in a pan. Add mustard and allow it to splutter. Add the ground mixture and 3 Cups of water.Allow the rasam to boil and simmer for 15 mins till raw smell goes off. Add coriander leaves and switch off the stove.

Tips:
Adjust black pepper and red chilli to your taste.
Alternatively coriander leaves can also be ground along with other ingredients.



Def a different kind of rasam.Garlicky too.
