Paruppu Podi - Lentil Powder for Uttappam


Paruppu Podi - Lentil PowderHow many of you love podi uthappam?  This paruppu podi can be taken as a side dish to rice along with ghee or sesame oil. I prefer having this podi in Uthappam or dosa. I ahve also posted paruppu podi for rice. Please check below for step wise instructions and pictures for paruppu podi - lentil powder.

Preparation Time: 5 mins
Cook time : 5 mins
Ready in : 10 mins
Yields : 1/3 Cup 

Ingredients:
Red chillies
8-10
Channa Dal
1/4 Cup
Urad Dal
2 tbsp
Shredded coconut
3 tbsp
Salt
1/4 tsp
Asafoetida powder
1/4 tsp

Instructions:
  •  Dry roast channa dal to golden brown colour. Dry roast urad dal separately to golden colour. Dry roast shredded coconut to golden colour till the moisture is lost.

  • Mix all the ingredients and blend to a coarse powder. 

Tips:
Adjust chillies to your taste.
Shelf life of this powder is one week.
Shredded coconut can be replaced with store bought dry coconut powder.
