Paruppu Urundai Kuzhambu | Step by step pictures
Paruppu Urundai Kuzhambu is a spicy South Indian gravy prepared by cooking lentil balls in tamarind gravy. This tangy lentil balls gravy is a traditional recipe of Tamil Nadu. Lentil balls are steamed in Idli vessel and added to the tamarind sauce. Alternatively the lentil balls can be added directly to the tamarind sauce without steaming. Dal Baati | Rajasthan Special dish
Dal Baati is a popular dish from Rajasthan. Baati is prepared by kneading whole wheat flour | atta into stiff dough . It is made into small balls and cooked in oven. Baati is served with ghee and dal. Urad dal, chana dal and yellow split mung dal are pressure cooked along with turmeric powder. Adai is a popular crepe from South India prepared using rice, mixed lentils, and Indian spices. I have modified the recipe by adding ridge gourd also. Peerkangai Rasavangi
Ridge gourd is rich in beta carotene, dietary fibre, vitamin C, zinc, ribloflavin, iron and magnesium. This vegetable is called Beerakaya in telugu and Peerkangai in tamil. Paruppu podi for Rice
Whomever had lunch in Andhra mess would have tasted the lentil powder alias gun powder. I am not sure why it got the name gun powder. It is my hubby's favourite. He starts his lunch with this paruppu podi and ghee. It is also my kid's favourite and I used to prepare in small batches 15 days once. Adai is a South Indian crepe prepared with variety of dals and Rice. It is a protein and iron rich breakfast / dinner recipe. Murungai Keerai Adai is a very famous recipe of Kongunadu. Drumstick leaves are rich in iron when compared to other green leaves. My mom usually grind the dals and add the drumstick leaves before preparing the Adai. In order to make my Kid eat, I have slightly modified the recipe by grinding the drumstick leaves also Otherwise he will remove the leaves from Adai before eating. My kid really loved this Adai. Masala Vadai is a South Indian Snacks usually accompanied with Tea or payasam. In my native place, we get vadai paruppu for making this masala vadai. It resembles more like chana dal.
