Ingredients:
Table 1:
Quick Oats | 1 Cup |
Salt | As needed |
Coriander leaves chopped | 2 stalks |
Oil for greasing idli plates | As needed |
Table 2: To Temper
Oil | 2 tsp |
Mustard | 1/4 tsp |
Cumin seeds | Seeragam | 1/2 tsp |
Channa dal | Kadalai paruppu | 1 tsp |
Urad dal | Ulunthu paruppu | 1 tsp |
Green chillies finely chopped | 2 |
Curry Leaves | 3-5 |
Ginger finely chopped | 1 tsp |
Instructions:
- Dry roast oats for 2-3 mins till it is hot. Allow it to cool and powder it in mixie / blender. Transfer it bowl and keep it ready.
- Heat Oil in a pan. Add mustard when it splutters, add cumin seeds, channa dal and urad dal. Fry till Channa dal turns golden colour. Add finely chopped green chillies, chopped curry leaves and finely chopped ginger. Fry till raw smell goes off.
- Add tempered items to the grind-ed oats powder in a bowl. Add salt, chopped coriander leaves and prepare a thick dough (similar to chappati dough). Make small balls and shape the balls by pressing between your fingers as shown in picture below.
- Heat Idli pan. Grease Idli plates with Oil. Steam cook Kozhukattai for 8-12 minutes.
