Lady's Finger is called Bhindi/Bhendi in hindi, Bendakaya in telugu and Vendakkai in tamil and okra in many places. Vendakkai is rich in Vitamin C, folate and high fibre content. Vendakkai Mor kuzhambu is prepared by cooking Lady's Finger in butter milk . This traditional Mor Kuzhambu is served as a side dish to Rice in South India. There are two methods of preparing this mor kuzhambu. South Indian style Okra Butter milk gravy. Rice side dish

Method 1:  Mor Kuzhambu Preparation

Ingredients:
Table 1: 
Coconut Oil : 1 tbsp
Lady's Finger : 4
Mustard : 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves : 5
Salt : As needed
Turmeric powder : 1/4 tsp
Buttermilk : 1.5 cup

Table 2: To Grind
Fenugreek seeds | Vendhayam : 1/2 tsp
Channa dal | Kadalai paruppu : 1 tsp
Toor dal | Thuvaram paruppu : 2 tsp
Asafoedita Powder | Perungayam : Pinch
Shredded coconut : 2 tbsp
Green chillies : 2

Instructions:
 1. Dry roast channa dal, fenugreek seeds, toor dal and asafoedita powder till the dal turns golden colour. Grind the fried items in previous step with shredded coconut and green chillies into fine paste by adding enough water in mixie / blender.

2. Heat Oil in the pan and add mustard. when mustard splutters, add curry leaves.  When mustard splutter add  Lady's Finger and fry it till they are cooked. We can also cook Lady's finger separately and add here .

3. Add ground mixture, turmeric powder,salt and butter milk and allow it to boil. Switch off the stove and serve with rice.

Method 2:  Mor Kuzhambu Preparation

Ingredients:
Table 1:
Coconut Oil : 1 tbsp
Lady's Finger : 4
Curry leaves : 5
Red chilly : 1
Mustard : 1/4 tsp
Salt : As needed
Turmeric powder : 1/4 tsp
Buttermilk : 1.5 cup

Table 2: To Grind
Coriander seeds|Dhaniya : 1 tsp
Cumin seeds | Seeragam : 1 tsp
Channa dal | Kadala paruppu : 1 tsp
Urad dal | Ulunthu paruppu : 1 tsp
Shredded coconut : 2 tbsp
Green chillies : 2

Instructions:
1. Soak channa dhal, urad dhal, cumin seeds, coriander seeds for 15 minutes. Grind it with shredded coconut and green chillies.

2. Heat Oil in the pan and add mustard,curry leaves and red chilly. When mustard splutter, add  Lady's Finger and fry it till they are cooked. We can also cook Lady's finger separately and add here.

3. Add ground mixture, turmeric powder,salt and butter milk and allow it to boil. Switch off the stove and serve with rice.
