Pongal is harvest festival celebrated in Tamil Nadu. It is celebrated from last day of Tamil Month Maargazhi to third day of Tamil month Thai. It is believed that the beginning of Thai month will bring lot of new opportunities. It is celebrated as Sankranthi in some states. Indian country vegetables (Naatu Kai)  like broad beans | Avarakkai, Parangikkai | Yellow pumpkin, Brinjal | Kathirikkai, Mochai | Val beans are used in Cooking Pongal festival recipes.  I have compiled a list of special recipes prepared on Pongal festival.
